We’re delighted to announce the addition of London based director Adam Kaleta to the roster at Dark Energy. Adam brings over 15 years experience directing namely automotive and sports commercials for a host of major brands for TVC’s online content and documentaries.
After a stint working in various Soho post and edit houses (where he initially met Dark Energy founder and EP Matt Brown in the early 90’s) he then went on to become Head of MTV Sports Europe which led him into directing a handful of award-winning sports films such as Surf (O’Neil Deep Jungle), mountain biking (Tricks & Stunts) and snowboarding (Arctic Challenge) he continued his TV career having also directed a number of cutting edge documentaries for both BBC and C4.
Having then developed an acute eye for style, detail and connective narrative, Adam combined his extensive skill set and moved into the automotive world directing campaigns and content for high profile brands such as Ford, Bentley, Range Rover, Land Rover, Mercedes, Kia & most recently Renault.
He’s also worked with a host of stars and well known celebs such as Jay Leno, Bradley Cooper, James Cracknell and Chris Froome as well as being highly skilled at crafting believable performances from unknowns and non-acting talent alike.
Twenty years on from sharing a flat with Dark Energy founder Matt, Adam is now happily re-united with his old flatmate from the 90’s and looks forward to directing some fresh new work as part of the Dark Energy roster.

Andrea’s work has a flair for strong casting, achieving engaging and authentic performances from actors and non actors alike. Her gentle, insightful approach has seen great results, nurturing some particularly special performances in her campaign for Sky Arts and recent work for Tesco.
Andrea spent eight years at BBC Broadcast, now Red Bee Media. During that time she wrote and directed a number of high profile campaigns across a multitude of channels. Highlights include working on an award winning trail for BBC World with John Simpson and picking up a Gold Promax for writing and directing a campaign for Cbeebies.
Andrea has also directed drama at the BBC. First making a short for BBC One’s ‘Brief Encounters’ series and going on to direct three blocks of the continuing drama ‘Doctors’. Andrea also directed second unit for 35mm feature ‘Blessed’, starring Heather Graham and James Purfoy.
As well as being represented as a director in commercials and content by Dark Energy, she is Founding Director of production agency Think Make Create with Marcus Jones and Jacquie Beaumont

Arni Thor Jonsson
Icelandic born Arni Thor Jonsson is a film director and part-owner of the production house Republik with his brother (and fellow Dark Energy director) Lalli. Arni is a highly capable and diverse visual and performance director with a particular knack for achieving both charming and authentic performances from both children and adults alike. He was previously an influential radio host in his native Iceland and still keeps up a music blog today. As well as his extensive commercial career, he's also made award-winning music videos, directing for the likes of Damien Rice and Singapore Sling.

Ben’s passion lies in sport, with a background as an award winning agency creative, Ben set up Cake in 1999 where over a six year period he watched the agency grow from eight people to eighty five, working for clients such as Nintendo, Budweiser, Carling, Evian, Jaguar and Hewlett Packard. Whilst at Cake Ben also developed a fledgling web content and distribution department, writing and producing early content ideas for Reebok, Carling and Nintendo.
His commercial work to date has seen him direct documentaries, TVC's and online content with a multitude of famous sports personalities such as Beckham, Xavi, Suarez, Amir Khan, Mesut Ozil, the England Rugby team, Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd, as well as for a host of clients including Adidas, Dove, Puma, Samsung, Barclays, Walkers, Xbox and Waitrose to name just a few.

David Stoddart is a writer and director from the west coast of Scotland. He completed a masters in directing fiction at the National Film and Television School (NFTS): where his graduation film Solstice, a drama set in the highlands of Scotland, premiered at the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival and was nominated for a BAFTA New Talent Award, a BAFTA Scotland award and won best short film at The Hamptons International Film Festival. In 2010 he was selected as one of Screen International’s "Stars of Tomorrow".
David has also been commissioned by BBC Scotland to make a documentary about his sister Susie Wolff, in her bid to become the first female F1 driver to race since 1974. It was broadcast on BBC 2 and won him 'Best Sports Documentary' at the Inaugural RTS (Royal Television Society) Scotland awards.
His commercials career began in Spring 2014 with a series of television commercials for Ryanair swiftly followed by his multi award-winning campaign for ManKind "#ViolenceIsViolence" made through agency Dare. This highly successful online film gained over 20,000,000 hits combined on YouTube and Facebook alone and picked up Gold, Silver and Bronze British Arrow awards as well as a D&AD Pencil and an APA Collection Diamond.
More recently, David won "best of the best" (Grand Prix), gold and a bronze at the Campaign/PR Week Brand Film awards for his film "Boys Don't Cry". "Boys Don't Cry" is the final episode from his 9 part Lynx "Men In Progress" series. The series was designed to reinstate Lynx as a barometer of modern masculinity.

Jason and Matt Docter are identical twin brothers who duo direct as the Docter Twins. They relish the opportunity to work on great creative and bring their trademark humour and visual style to international brands like Samsung, Canon, Keystone Light, Fedex, Toshiba, Nestle, Bud Light and Pedigree to mention a few.Currently the duo are developing a feature-length, coming of age story and have recently finalised a spot for U.S fast-food chain Red Robin.
Over the last few years they've worked with an array of U.S and international agencies including BBDO NY, Saatchi &Saatchi NY, TBWA Chiat L.A, AKQA S.F. Leo Burnett Dubai and Havas Worldwide. Now based in Los Angeles, the Docter Twins grew up in the Midwest and were hugely inspired by classic comedy directors like Woody Allen, The Coen Brothers and John Hughes.
Their journey into the art world began through their love of music, part of the Champaign-Urbana Indie scene in the late 90’s, their band The Suede Chain opened for notable acts like Oasis, Matthew Sweet and Sheryl Crow. Today Jason & Matt still compose music for much of their directing work and are founders of L.A based production and music company Thinking Machine.

Jamie Childs' ability to fuse a naturally observed use of camera with striking visuals, coupled with his skill at drawing great performances from his cast, has established him as a highly accomplished new director within the industry. Jamie began his directing career by winning a competition to shoot a TV commercial for Patricia Cornwell’s novel "Book Of The Dead". His winning piece was shown on channel 5 during the CSI ad break. He then moved onto directing promos for both the BBC and ITV and shot his first agency commercial for the Fairy 'Make A Wish' Foundation (featuring Sean Bean) through Grey London which was very well received within the industry.
Early 2016 saw Jamie direct an online campaign for Dove sponsoring the Four Nations Rugby Tournament shot over 4 days over multiple locations across the UK featuring stars such as England’s Anthony Watson, Connor Murray of Ireland, Scotlands’s scrum-half Craig Laidlaw and Welsh star Dan Biggar.
2016 has also seen Jamie direct a feature length episode of the critically acclaimed ITV series Vera starring a host of household names such as Brenda Blethyn. Off the back of his episode "The Moth Catcher", he was asked back to be lead director for the next series.
Currently Jamie is busy directing the second series of Stan Lee's critically acclaimed 10 part crime drama Lucky Man - featuring James Nesbitt as Detective Harry Clayton for Sky1.

Icelander Lalli Jonsson is an accomplished visual story teller and lifestyle director. His varied commercial work tends to centre around family life and he's just as comfortable shooting people and food as he is shooting kittens and cars which can be seen in his spots for Male Cancer Awareness, B&Q, Dettol, Whiskas and Asda to mention just a few.
Lalli also has a passion for stills photography and motorcycles which he likes to indulge in when not busy shooting globally. Lalli's now based in his hometown of Reykjavik and is co-founder of Icelandic based production company Republik with his brother and Dark Energy Director Arni.

Matt started life as an animator and graphic designer for the BBC and Channel 4. He then shimmied into the world of commercials beginning his directing career at Weilands before moving to Rose Hackney Barber and Feel Films where he worked on long running campaigns for Burger King, McDonalds and Kelloggs. Matt frequently returned to 4Creative where he both wrote and directed commercials & sponsorships for the infamous 118 118, Herbal Essences and Lurpack brands.
Matt went on to set up his own creative agency Tricycle, where he has continued to write and direct films for exciting brands like Orange, Weetabix, Skype and working for years with the legend that is Foxy Bingo.com!
Matt now returns to his love of comedy performance directing by joining Dark Energy Films’s roster for commercials representation.
2016 has seen Matt work with the likes of Keith Lemon for Celebrity Juice Live! and Sky Vegas as well as complete a campaign for Suzuki featuring the nation's favourite TV hosts Ant & Dec.

Sean Thompson is a multi-award winning creative and ECD.
His writing credits include the Honda films: Grrr, Everyday and The Impossible Dream. He has won two of the much coveted black and 12 yellow D&AD pencils, the Cannes Titanium and Grand Prix, Adweek's Ad of the Decade, the One Show's Best in Show and their Best Car ad of the last 25 years.
Sean began his directing career shooting for Adidas. The "Sports Art" films feature stars such as David Beckham, Lionel Messi and Jonah Lomu baring their souls in a moving and inspiring series. The athletes use art, just like Muhammad Ali used to, to visualise their journeys from their most harrowing life changing events to achieving their ultimate goals. This hugely successful campaign won at: Cannes, the British Arrows and is on permanent archive in the Museum of Modern Art New York.
Sean delivers a very filmic look across many different genres and likes to get to the heart and soul of the subject and raise the idea to greater heights. He loves the creative use of sound combined with unexpected music and sees it as an often neglected part of filmmaking.
His love of shooting sporting heroes and his knowledge of automotive have culminated in his recent films for BMW with the mini epics Castle and Robot, Formula E Electric Racing, Volvo and a fragrance spot with footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.
He is a screenwriter who specialises in writing everything from comedy to horror. Again, proving his love of diversity of genres. Sean has proven to be at his best when he hits that unexpected sweet spot between light and dark.

Seth Townsend’s work features witty, character-driven spots and a distinct brand of crisp humor. He's created high profile commercial campaigns for brands such as Axe, Google, Pringles, Kit Kat, Levis-Dockers, Snickers, and the global launch of Glee on Sky TV. His Levi's Dockers campaign #DadJam feat. Taye Diggs for Father's Day made waves globally. The spot made it into Campaign's top three Father's Day branded videos. After graduation, Seth began a career in feature film development working at Universal, Disney, and Warner Brothers before being hired away by the Swedish directing collective Traktor, where he spent the the next 10 years as a writer, a co-director, and as head of TV/Feature development. While with Traktor, Seth worked on campaigns for the likes of FoxSportsNet, Discovery.com, Mountain Dew, FedEx, and on music videos such as FatBoy Slim, The Prodigy, and Madonna. He eventually began co-directing for the collective, helming spots for brands such as Axe, Miller, Dodge, and Nike. As of 2011, Seth branched out and began to direct under his own name developing a body of work centred around hilarious and expertly captured performances.
