Jean-Paul Ly is an award-winning director and action specialist with over 13 years of
experience across film, television, and commercial production. His credits include major studio projects such as the Doctor Strange movies, The Batman, Aquaman 2, F9, Venom 2, The Witcher, and Avengers: Doomsday (2026), where he served as a stunt double for Shang-Chi. He has also performed in global music productions, including a project with Taylor Swift, bringing a high level of cinematic craft and technical precision to his directing work. He has directed a segment for Coldplay as part of a global music project. As an action director, he is known for films such as Jailbreak, Nightshooters, and The Prey, earning recognition at international festivals including Fantasia and Raindance, along with a Screen Actors Guild nomination.
His work centres on performance-driven action and movement-led storytelling, spanning stunt design, physical comedy, sports visuals, and precision-based vehicle sequences. He combines choreography, camera work, and narrative to create clear, engaging, and visually distinctive storytelling. His approach is also influenced by Korean cinema, adding an emotional, character-driven layer to his action, particularly suited to commercial campaigns where story and emotion remain the priority.
He is the founder of Bad Guys Films, where he develops and showcases original directing
work. In March 2026, he produced his first horror feature film and is currently preparing to
