This privacy policy explains how Dark Energy Films ("we", "us") handles information when you visit our website. We've built this site with your privacy in mind — no invasive tracking, no cookies, no data harvesting.

What We Collect

Web Server Logs

Like virtually all websites, our hosting provider (Servd) automatically logs basic request information when you visit a page. This includes your IP address, the page you requested, your browser type, and the time of your visit. These logs are used for security monitoring and troubleshooting, and are retained according to Servd's standard practices.

Analytics

We use Fathom Analytics to understand how our site is used in aggregate — things like which pages are visited and where our traffic comes from. Fathom is a privacy-focused analytics service that:

  • Does not use cookies
  • Does not collect personal data
  • Does not track you across sites
  • Is fully GDPR, CCPA, and ePrivacy compliant

We see anonymous, aggregate data only (e.g. "42 people visited the homepage today"), never information about individual visitors.

Video Playback

Our videos are delivered through Mux, which collects playback performance data — things like play counts, buffering rates, video quality, and viewer geography at the country level. This helps us ensure videos play smoothly. Mux does not collect personally identifiable information by default.

Cookies & Tracking

Fathom Analytics is entirely cookieless. The Mux video player may use your browser's local storage to remember playback preferences (like volume level), but this data stays on your device and is not sent to us.

Some pages include embedded content from YouTube or Vimeo. These embeds are "lite" — they only load third-party resources when you actively click play. Until you interact with an embed, no data is sent to YouTube or Vimeo.

Our fonts are self-hosted — we do not use Google Fonts or any external font services.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone. We do not run advertising or remarketing of any kind.
