Alex Tiernan is a director whose work sits between documentary and fiction, often developed in collaboration with real communities and subcultures. Drawn to character-driven stories and lived experience, his films combine close observation with a strong visual and narrative approach.

Having worked across Europe, the Middle East and Latin America, Alex brings an international perspective to his work, which explores identity, belonging and a sense of place through the lives, rituals and communities that shape people. 

His films have been recognised by the 1.4 Awards, Cannes YDAs, Shots Awards, UKMVAs and Vimeo Staff Picks, amongst others.
