Gwil was born and raised in East London. From a young age, he had a deep love for cinema and knew by the age of 12 that he wanted to become a director.

He went on to study cinema and philosophy at university while simultaneously working with the renowned Tim & Barry of Just Jam, filming and editing hundreds of live music performances and freestyles. During this time, he captured now internationally famous artists such as Skepta and D Double E. This blend of cinema history and contemporary street culture shaped his distinctive perspective.

Following this, Gwil worked as a producer for a period, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the industry. He has produced commercials, music videos, and branded content, further refining his expertise.

However, directing has always been his true passion. In music videos, he enjoys incorporating tongue-in-cheek humor to playfully critique the clichés of certain genres. His extensive experience within the scene has allowed him to build strong relationships with celebrities, whether filming branded content for major brands such as Burberry and G-Shock or creating more personal documentaries that reveal a side of them beyond the glitz and glamour of show business.
